Day two at BEA was all around amazing! Starting with the perfect parking spot (seriously the most convenient spot ever) and ending with us fangirling with one of our favorite authors while we were all in line to meet Jodi Picoult the entire day was one wonderful experience after another.

Here are our picks for bests of the day and our full book hauls.

Today was basically holy crap fantastic! The highlight of my day was the whole experience of getting to meet Jodi Picoult. Jess was able to get in line early and we had a great spot when we noticed Sonali Dev in line. She is one of my favorite authors – her first two books were so beautifully written and I can’t wait for the release of her next one. She came over, sat down, and hung out with us for the next half an hour. Sonali is so genuine, warm, and just a nice person. I highly recommend reading and meeting her if you ever get the opportunity! Then to top off that awesome experience it finished by meeting Jodi Picoult and getting to take a picture with her. I’ve read every single book ever written by her. I can’t wait to read this next one!

My book haul is simply insane today. I got some great books though. I’m pretty excited for Replica by Lauren Oliver. Kami Garcia’s The Lovely Reckless is one I’m really looking forward to as well. One book that was unexpected but now I’m looking forward to is The Hamilton Affair by Elizabeth Cobbs. It’s fiction about Hamilton – what more could I ask for?

I don’t even know where to start with my day. Can I just say that is was a day of fangirling taken to epic proportions. It started out with meeting Ann M. Martin my first ever favorite author (Baby-sitter’s Club for life!), then I got to meet the man who created Opus! Berkeley Breathed the creator and artist of the Bloom County series himself. And then to make things even more epic, we got to hang out with Sonali Dev?!?! I’m still not sure I believe that happened (and I’m 100% convinced that after she reads this post she’ll decide we’re nuts and never speak to us again). Plus she was nice enough to give me an ARC of A Change of Heart!!!

Lets see, my favorite books of the day…umm you’ll never expect it–A Change of Heart! But in all seriousness I also got some really wonderful books including Pachinko, In Sunlight or in Shadow and, The Other Einstein.

Day two started very early as we were waiting outside the convention hall way before the 9AM opening.  Good thing because we were able to get a great place in line for my first stop:  a Lauren Oliver book drop. This book is gorgeous, see a pic of my haul below.  I’m all about the pretty covers!  One of my favorite things that happened today was meeting Sonali Dev, an author I’d heard of, but hadn’t read yet.  She was so charming, friendly and lovely, and had a great manicure!!  Her books will be on my shelf as soon as I get back to Philly.  A favorite thing that I just LOVE is my adorable little tote bag that came with Jennifer Weiner’s upcoming book titled The Littlest Bigfoot, a book for young readers that I’m already reading and loving.  She’s great!

Today way more books made it into my tote bags.  Among the gems include Alice Hoffman’s upcoming Faithful (another pretty cover!), two Brenda Novak books, Elin Hilderbrand’s latest annual beach read, and Jodi Picoult’s newest.  I also got a few  by authors that are new to me, but whose books looked really interesting.  After all, that’s what Book Expo is all about, discovering great authors and wonderful books!  I can’t wait to see what I discover tomorrow!!
