I’m thrilled to be celebrating Twelve Days of Kindness with Debbie Macomber in anticipation of her newest Christmas story, Twelve Days of Christmas. On each day of the twelve days leading up to the October 4th release of the book, a different blogger will feature a small kindness they’ve performed or plan on performing. The main character in Debbie Macomber’s newest Christmas story, Twelve Days of Christmas is Julia. She’s a blogger and I’m a blogger! I was immediately drawn to this story because of Julia. I had high hopes for this story surrounding a favorite time (Christmas) and a favorite hobby (blogging).
Julia Padden likes nearly everyone, but her standoffish neighbor, Cain Maddox, presents a challenge. No matter how hard she’s tried to be nice, Cain rudely rebuffs her every time. She’s determined to break through Cain’s Scrooge-like exterior by killing him with kindness. To track her progress with Cain, Julia starts a blog called The Twelve Days of Christmas.
This sweet love story, surrounding the holiday season was an easy, quick afternoon read and lived up to the hopes I had for it. I loved it most because of Julia’s blog idea. In a world filled with so much hate, it was nice to see Julia want to reach out and try to make Cain happy with her random acts of kindness. If you’ve read Macomber before it won’t surprise you that Julia feels herself falling for Cain or that he falls for her as well. There are of course issues getting to happily ever after but I found their love story believable although a bit rushed. I was happy with the ending, finding closure with each character’s story.
Overall, this is a fantastic story for the holiday season. Grab your copy, sit down with cup of hot cocoa and enjoy.
