Hard Wired is book 3 in the Cyberlove series by one of my favorite writing pairs ever – Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell. The first two books were pretty great, with the second being really hard to top! I read everything these two authors write individually; and combined it’s almost like their powers are multiplied for the greater good.

I was really excited to get these main character’s stories. Here we get to see mod’s Garvy and Cherry, and that involves going back just a little bit to FallenCon which we had seen already in Fast Connection. But now we get to see their points of view. I loved that POV so much. The alternating points of view was really strong right away and I got a great sense of character from both Cherry and Garvy in the opening chapters which helped to ground me in who they actually were.

I’m giving this book 4.5 stars and what is keeping it from the full 5 stars was mainly because I was having difficulty following the multiple personas of Cherry. It’s fully explained – and done so very early on – and it made complete sense to me *why* the personas existed but I couldn’t keep track of the different names at first. So for the first few chapters I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which name belonged to which character, which threw me out of the story.

I feel like most people are going to love Cherry, and I did, but I really liked Garvy so much. He was so what you see is what you get and he was just so earnest with his feelings that I kind of fell in love with him right away. Garvy’s had problems standing up for himself and he’s trying to embrace his sexuality fully; all of that combined with his hesitance in going forward with his own channel melted my heart.

I’m not a big fan of the cover – I like the cover art and the model well enough but if you look at the three covers together this one stands out for the white background. The first two have black backgrounds so this lightness on this one is jarring when looking at the series as a a whole to me. But the book is pretty great so I was able to get past that pretty easily.

I just want to read every single thing that Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell ever writes. Books, novellas, blogs. Everything!

About the Authors

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author.

Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
