So co written books are seriously my catnip apparently. I can think of half a dozen pairs of authors that write together that I adore! Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell. Avon Gale and Roan Parrish. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy…and now Sarina Bowen and Sarah Mayberry joins that list with this romantic comedy book of their, Temporary. I was super excited when they announced it. I’m a well known Sarina fan because hello, who isn’t? But I’ve also been a big Sarah fan for years! So I was all around reccing my favorites of hers. If you haven’t read Her Favorite Temptation or Her Best Worst Mistake…run, don’t walk to get them. OH and Satisfaction and Anticipation– holy crap, you are in for a treat!
Temporary has a great setup with its storyline right from the word go. Grace is a temp working for Walker Holdings, desperately hoping to become a permanent employee, so that she can take care of both herself and he little sister who she is solely responsible for. Her temp assignment turns a bit unusual when asked to manage the estate of Jack, a Millionaire who happened to be the brother of the CEO. But as Grace really needs this job she is up for the challenge. But when she meets Callan, Jack’s nephew, she finds herself walking a fine line between her growing attraction to him and her need for stability.
I really love the heroine here because she is so vulnerable, yet incredibly strong. Her emotions were always just under the surface but she kept herself together for the sake of her sister and I loved seeing how Callan judged her that way and it couldn’t be further from the truth of her. I always find myself wanting to know which author wrote which character and I couldn’t figure it out here because Bowen writes really amazing male characters but Callan is Australian…which makes me think Mayberry wrote him. Which is really a compliment because that’s how seamless I felt the writing was here. I had no idea where one started and the other one picked up.
I found the plot engaging and felt that it was well balanced between the heavier, more emotional scenes. There is quite a bit of light-heart easy banter here as well so it’s a great mix of the two. I hope these authors co-write together again!
