We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? ~The Doctor
Welcome to Bookish Devices the home of Jess, Jennifer, Melinda aka The Bookish Ladies, and our family of contributors Jim, Dottie, and Jules. We’re very pleased to make your acquaintance. In real life we do all sorts of boring things like work, laundry, and — even sometimes — vacuuming. Here though, this is where the wonderful happens. Bookish Devices is where we get to share our love of literature and all things bookish with you. We’ll be posting book reviews, about book related items, bookish technology and generally things we think other book lovers will be interested in. We hope you enjoy your time here and thank you for stopping by.

Jess–Blogger, Book Reviewer, and Bookish Leader
Hi, I’m Jess and Bookish Devices is what happens when I have too much time on my hands. I’ve run a few book related Facebook pages over the last few years but Bookish Devices is my first attempt at a proper book blog. My goal is to offer something fun and laid back but still interesting and a place that you can rely on to feed your love of books. My preferences lean toward historical fiction, Austenesque literature, classics, Indian and Asian literature, and audio books mixed in with some fantasy, YA, dystopian, graphic novels, and even some non-fiction to round out the mix. I love technology too, my Kindle and ithingies are never far from my side. In addition to an entire room full of books, I also collect cookbooks and supplies for crafts I have no time for. Hogwarts letters, wax-sealed declarations from Austen heroes, and emails should be sent to jess (at) bookishdevices (dot) com.
Jennifer–Co-Blogger and Book Reviewer
Hey! I’m Jennifer and excited to be blogging with some of my favorite bookish friends. Being asked by Jess to join the Bookish Devices team will remain at the top of my “Best Bookish Moments” list for a long time. I’ve always been a reader, but it wasn’t until I bought a Kindle in 2011 that the obsession with reading and all things books really took hold. I read approximately 125 books a year and my favorite genres include Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Christian Fiction and Romance. I’ll do my best to share fun bookish things with you as well as present you with reviews of what I’m reading. Want to get in touch? Send an email to jennifer (at) bookishdevices (dot) com.
Melinda–Co-Blogger and Book Reviewer
Hi, I’m Melinda and the latest addition to the Bookish Devices group! I’ve been reviewing books for a few years now and genuinely love to read a book and share my opinion whether it’s good, bad, or indifferent. I read pretty much every day and if I don’t I can’t fall asleep. I read pretty heavily in romance but enjoy across genres as well. The majority of what I read is contemporary, LGBTQIA+, YA, or paranormal. I do read a few historical if I get trusted recommendations, non-fiction, and urban fantasy. I listen to a ton of audiobooks as well. I love bookish related items and have a variety of cute totes, shirts, mugs and prints and am always looking for more! I can be reached at melinda (at) bookish devices (dot) com. Can’t wait to get started!
j3h aka Jim–Comic Book Guy and all around Geek
Jim joins the blog basically because he was hijacked by Jess to help out with the Sunday Comics series. In return, he can now say that all comics brought into their home are “blog research,” a fact that has made Jess reconsider her “invitation” to join. Jim is the blog’s resident expert for all things comic book related and, although he doesn’t know it yet (because Jess wrote this bio), he may also be called upon to contribute some non-comic book reviews since he does read quite a few novels as well. Jim prides himself on his extensive collection of comic book and Star Wars collectibles and on the fact that he can win Star Wars Trivial Pursuit in one turn–an ability that makes it so no one will play with him ever again. If you’d like to get in touch with Jim, email Jess at the address above. She’ll pass the message along.
Jules–Blog Member and Book Reviewer
“Go read a book!” These are the words uttered over and over again from my mother whenever I came to her throughout my childhood and told her how bored I was. We had stacks of books from all genres and all reading levels. I would take a book that had an interesting cover and read it that day. Lather, rinse, repeat. Needless to say, my life, from an early age, was surrounded and influenced by reading. Fast forward to adulthood – Jess asked me to co-blog/review books on this site. I immediately jumped on the opportunity to read and review books for all the world to see. I LOVE to read, LOVE to share books, and LOVE to write. Follow along if you like mystery/thrillers, non-fiction, biographies/autobiographies, cookbooks, historical fiction, travel, satire, and anything to do with animals. If you’d like to contact me, I can be reached at jules (at) bookish devices (dot) com. Buckle your seatbelts, friends…
Dottie–Former Blog Member and Book Reviewer
Hello! I’m Dottie, and I’m nervous & excited at the same time to do something way out of my comfort zone…blogging! I LOVE to read anything from romance, contemporary and historical, my favorite genre, to crime and mystery thrillers, women’s fiction, and now YA and NA. I tend to steer clear of horror and zombie type books. I value my restful sleep too much. As any avid reader knows, it’s just as much, if not more fun collecting books and book paraphernalia than just reading. Just look at my bookcase and the content on my 4 kindles! My hope is to share my excitement when I read a 5 star book, and to honestly give my opinion when one falls flat for me. Also, I love to meet authors, so I’ll try my hardest to share those experiences as well. I’ll share an occasional funny post from time to time too. So bear with this novice blogger, as I jump in head first!
