A heartbreaking story, but one that holds much beauty too.

Allison spent her life bouncing from one foster home to the next until she was adopted at sixteen. Because of her past, Allison is determined to keep others at arm’s length and doesn’t believe in the permanence of anything. It’s the beginning of her third year of college and Allison is roped into a social experiment off campus. Suddenly, she finds herself in front of a crowd, forced to interact with a stranger for 180 seconds. Neither she, nor Esben Baylor, the social media star seated opposite her, is prepared for the outcome.

While I found part of the story predictable, it had a lot of heart and that more than made up for a bit of predictability. Allison is understandably shy about putting herself out there in a relationship. So, it was with great joy that I watched Esben bring her out of isolation. Allison makes friends and blossoms, which is exactly what she needs because hard times are coming.

It’s been a while since a book made me cry as much as this one and there was much ugly crying involved here. However, that was often soothed by something that made me smile because it warmed my heart so much.

Love a romance that makes your heart feel all soft and gooey too? If so, then 180 Seconds is for you.
