Is it wrong to admit that I like reading true crime books? When I was approved for this book on NetGalley I was eager to dive in.
Reading true stories is a lot like seeing that accident on the side of the road. I can’t help but look and try to figure out what happened. True crimes fascinate me. I love watching shows such as Dateline and Unsolved Mysteries.
Prior to reading this book I had not heard of Maura Murray’s case so I was really interested in knowing all the details. The who, what, when, why and how. Sadly, I don’t feel like I heard Maura’s story. It read more like an autobiography of Mr. Renner’s life. While that was interesting in its own right that is not what I wanted to read about. True Crime Addict gets 3 stars because Maura’s disappearance is interesting as were some of the things Mr. Renner discovered during his investigation. However, next time I hope the author sticks strictly with the facts of the case. Nothing but the facts. That’s what I want when I sit down to read a book based on an actual real life event.
ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks for this review Jennifer. I like some true crime books too but some, unfortunately, are more about the author than then victim.
