A well written book and a great story but something was missing.
The first time Britta and James meet, he literally knocks her off her feet. She thinks he’s a new student and he believes she’s a teacher. Wrong! James is actually Britta’s new teacher. They fall for each other and of course that’s a no-no.
The trouble I had with this book was the chemistry between Britta and James. I just didn’t feel it. A student/teacher relationship can’t happen. The big problem for me was I never really felt the forbiddenness of their relationship because their age difference was only 3 years. However, there were some great moments of intensity waiting for them to be caught. And they are caught but Britta’s solution to that problem had me cheering her on. I loved the secondary characters, Penny and Liam. Liam left me wanting a cooler old brother just like him. I’m hoping that Ms. Larson will write Penny and Liam’s story next. I am happy with the ending of Lessons of the Heart. The story is given proper closure and I finished the book knowing how everyone ended up. That makes this reader happy.
Are you a fan of romances? Then I think you’ll enjoy James and Britta’s story.
I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
