My love affair with Fredrik Backman’s writing continues with his new novella, And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer, and possibly the shortest review I’ve ever written.

Yup. That pretty much sums it up. Written as a way for the author to organize his own thoughts about family, loss, illness, and aging, this novella is as beautiful as it is heartbreaking. Read it (or listen to it, the audio narration is excellent), then listen to Harry Chapin’s Cats in the Cradle, drink a bottle of wine and have a good cry while you think about life and getting older.
