As we come to the end of another year, the Bookish Ladies decided to take a look back and choose a few of our favorite reads of 2016.

(In alpha order by author)

A Dog’s Purpose & A Dog’s Journey, W. Bruce Cameron

If you saw my Top Books of 2015 list, you may have noticed that I included A Dog’s Purpose on that list too. Why? I decided to re-read the book and its sequel, A Dog’s Journey, when I heard that A Dog’s Purpose was hitting movie theaters in 2017. But this time I would listen to the audiobooks and man, oh, man these books packed a punch the second time around! Animal lover or not, these are a must read.

Fireflies series, Lisa Ricard Claro

Lisa Ricard Claro is an author that I was introduced to this year and I’m so glad I was! Her Fireflies series is excellent! This series reminds me of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series and Emily March’s Eternity Springs series. Claro captures small town romance at its finest! If you’re looking for a new romance author, then Claro is your lady!

It Ends with Us, Colleen Hoover

There was so much talk about this book that I avoided reading reviews or even the synopsis before I sat down to read it. I went into this book completely blind. But the moment the title of the book began to make sense caused me to cry so hard! That this story is so personal to the author (please read the author’s note) makes this story even more powerful.

Redemption series, Karen Kingsbury

This series began by obsession with Karen Kingsbury. When I picked up a copy of the first book, Redemption, many years ago I was hooked on Karen Kingsbury and the Baxter Family. This year I decided to re-read the entire Baxter Family series since a new book was going to be released. The Redemption series remains among my favorites of the Baxter series. No matter how many times I read these books, there are tears. Lots and lots of tears.

Christmas Hope series, Donna VanLiere

I obviously had a hard time narrowing my list down to 5 books this year! It’s more of a Top Series List of 2016 🙂 I LOVE stories where the right people are in the right place at the right time. This series is full of moments like these. They never fail to put a smile on my face and warm my heart! Are you after a story to put you in the holiday spirit? These are the books for you!
