My last review was about the NA genre and about how I love the genre – and don’t read per what’s popular at the moment. The Woodlands series by Jen Frederick is another series that I absolutely love in this genre and is actually what introduced me to this author. I pretty much love all of what she writes but her NA work has been my favorite in the past.

The Woodlands has centered around a group of guys that are a tight group of friends – most of whom are roommates in a house off campus in college in Texas. Just like in Julianna Keyes books that I reviewed last week, one of the things that made me love the books so much was the feeling of genuine friendship amongst the guys in the books. I’ve read many female friendships but not as many male ones that feel so real so it’s been a breath of fresh air with these books.

I really enjoyed Unwritten but I felt like that camaraderie and even the NA genre was lacking in this book. Adam is in a band and they’re going on tour – and that is the focus of the book. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the book, I actually really, really enjoyed the book! But I felt a little bait and switch almost because it’s within The Woodlands series and I got pretty much none of the NA feel or friendship I was hoping for. Which is probably more to do with me and less to do with the book…I really wanted that NA right about now.

Putting that aside, this is a great read. This is a friend’s-sister-is-off-limits romance as well as a rocker romance, both of which I enjoy. The friend’s sister aspect in particular, because that makes things a little more interesting. Landry was a wonderful heroine, trying to come to terms with her stalker and dealing with trying to become independent.

Overall – great book. I recommend going into reading it as if it has nothing to do with the rest of The Woodlands universe though. I think people will love Adam, who is rock star perfection.
