Versions of Her was not what I expected but it was exactly what I needed it to be.
A few weeks went by between checking out this book and deciding it sounded like something I would read, and actually reading it. I didn’t reread the description before diving in, therefore I went in blind. I’ll begin my review with a very brief description, but recommend you jump into this book knowing as little as possible.
Melanie Kingstad-Keyes is a tenure track professor with a perfect husband. But a recent miscarriage has left her reeling and her marriage tenuous. Her sister Kelsey is stuck in a dead-end job and struggles to jumpstart her adult life. The potential of selling their family’s summer home, which no one has visited in years, feels like the perfect distraction for both. When the sisters find a mysterious hidden door …
This book was very much about real life circumstances and hardships, despite the unbelievable circumstances that allow readers to learn about some of the characters. While at first I was skeptical about parts of the plot, I really enjoyed the story and how everything eventually played out. Versions of Her was an easy and pleasant read that left me feeling quite happy when I reached the last page. While some may call it predictable, with as crazy as real life has been for me lately, this book was just what I needed … a pleasant distraction.
If you need a little predictable with a surprise or two thrown in, grab a copy of Versions of Her! This is my first novel but Lochen, but it will not be my last!
The author provided me with a copy of the e-book in exchange for my honest review.
