I’m almost at a loss for words. I didn’t like this book at all. I’m surprised I finished it but I was curious enough to want to know how it would end.
It’s wintertime in the Hamptons, and Scott and his wife, Elise, have come to be with her terminally father. As weeks turn to months, Scott notices that every night at 11pm, the lights in the neighbor’s bedroom turn off. It’s clearly a timer…but in the dead of winter with no one else around, there’s something about that light he can’t let go of. So one day while Elise is at the hospital, he breaks in. It’s not hard to later enlist his wife as a partner in crime.
I found Scott’s and Elise’s actions unbelievable. Nothing the author told me about them explained their actions. I believe they both needed further character development. The authors writing was disjointed and confusing, not allowing the story to flow well.
I can’t believe I stuck it out for the ending. I asked myself “what ending?” The book ended without me feeling like I had answers for everything that had happened. There was no explanation! I need to know the whys!
