Title: In Real Life

Author: Jessica Love

Rating:  3.5 stars

Some of my favorite people are those I’ve never met in person. People I’ve met on FB through shared interests. These experiences allowed me to relate to Hannah and Nick’s story.

Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper have been best friends since 8th grade but they have never actually met. Fast forward to spring break of senior year. Hannah decides to take a road trip to Las Vegas with her older sister and BFF, to surprise Nick and finally declare her feelings for him. However, the surprise trip backfires when she gets to Vegas and finds out that Nick has been keeping some major secrets.

I really enjoyed Hannah and Nick’s story. It was believable and well developed. Each character is also well written and developed. What kept this book from being 4 stars was the ending. Was it a good ending? Yes! But … I wanted more. An epilogue. I wanted that one last little step beyond the ending to see how things were a year later. You know what I mean? I assume they live happily ever after but as a reader I hate assuming. I prefer the author tell me they got married, had kids, etc. But that’s just me.

In Real Life was a really good book. It took me back to high school days and crushes. That butterfly feeling in the stomach when you like a boy.

Love is new author to me and I look forward to her future works.
