This was a re-issue of an older book written by one of my go to romance authors, Sabrina Jeffries, writing as Deborah Martin. What a wonderful love story this turned out to be!

Although many of the books I’ve read lately have been about lovers who are not “socially” suited for each other, this was a refreshing take on that theme. The story begins six years in the future where Juliana, the daughter of an English earl is about to be proclaimed the fiancé of a gentleman of her social status. The party is boldly interrupted by Rhys, a Welshman, proclaiming that Juliana is his wife. Flash back those six years and we find out how Juliana and Rhys’ love story began and what happened during those years that Juliana believed her true love to be dead.

This was an excellent story of love conquering over both family and social oppression, as well as love conquering over doubts and mistrust. The historical element of English/Welsh conflict was woven into the story in a very interesting way. Stormswept definitely tugged at my heartstrings, making me happy, sad and teary eyed along the way. Juliana and Rhys will go down in my book as one of my favorite historical romance couples. I’m so glad this book was re-issued! I’ll now look for more of Sabrina’s books written as Deborah Martin.

Thanks to Netgalley for this fabulous ARC!!
