My love for Nalini Singh isn’t exactly one that’s hidden. I like to sing it from the rafters and she tops my list of ultimate dream authors I would love to meet! But there are different permutations of this author and the Guild Hunter series is my all time favorite. Archangel’s Heart is the latest in this series, out today actually, and it fulfilled almost every thing that I was looking for in this book. I can always count on Nalini to not let me down which is why she’s one of the handful of autobuy authors I have which is the highest of honors a reader can bestow!
The Lijuan situation is ongoing still in that no one knows if she is alive, dead, or Sleeping. This causes the remaining Cadre to need to convene with the mysterious Luminata that there is very little known about. One of the best things about Nalini is her world building. All of her series has the most intensive worlds that are incredibly sprawling and with each book becomes more and ore layered. The dedication and attention to detail that she pays to these worlds is what makes her books come alive so vividly. This particular book did the new layering with the Luminata in the typical Guild Hunter way – revealing things piecemeal through the Ancients revealing information and the Archangels piece by piece.
The characters part of Archangel’s Heart was excellent – I always enjoy when we get to see interaction with the other Archangels and usually we don’t get quite so much in one book. I loved that. Bluebell and Sparkle left me wanting more. But that’s not new – I was like that with the last book too! I really want those two to get together so badly. And I want to know what is going to happen with them! Raphael and Elena were great together as always but I wish there was more there – more heat. There was the love which I never want to go away, but I missed the heat that was key in the past books. Oh and I need to know what is going on with Michaela!?!
I love this series because it is a little dark, a little gritty, and has a lot of heart. This one didn’t disappoint.
