At first sight, I think I’ve found a new author. Do you see what I did there?! 😉 This was the first book by Ms. Latham that I’ve read and it won’t be the last.
Reagan Massey has gone through a great deal of trouble to make her cousin irresistible to the visiting single minister but things get a little sticky when she falls in love with Cord Phillips herself. But Cord doesn’t believe in marital bliss after seeing the mockery his parents made of their vows. When his heart turns traitor, Cord must rethink his position on love.
Clocking in under 150 pages, I would consider At First Sight a novella. While there was room for expansion, I was satisfied with Reagan and Cord’s story. Their characters are well written and believable, as are the secondary characters the story introduces. I closed the book happy with the ending, but also wanting a sequel, needing more from the characters, eager to know what was up next in their lives. That’s not a slight to the story told here, but a testimony to the fact that I really liked the characters and want more of them.
Read in day, I urge all fans of Christian Fiction to grab a copy of At First Sight. Not only did I smile because a good romance makes me happy, but God also spoke to me from the pages. The following quotes are a small sample of why I really liked this book.
In fact, she’d melted against him like a chocolate bar in a shirt pocket on the hottest day in July.
God can make it more than better, sweetie. He can make it perfect.
I’m just so grateful that God always finds a way around us when we get in His way.
