Do you enjoy a good plot twist? Then the latest from Lisa Scottoline should be added to your list ASAP!
Dr. Noah Alderman, a widower and single father, is happily remarried to Maggie Ippolitti. Despite her longing for the daughter she hasn’t seen since she was a baby, Maggie is happy too, and she’s even more overjoyed when she unexpectedly gets another chance to be a mother to the child she thought she’d lost forever, her only daughter Anna. Maggie and Noah know that having Anna around will change their lives, but they would never have guessed that everything would go wrong, and so quickly.
Scottoline tells the story with a before and after look, an excellent way to tell it in my opinion. I don’t want to say much more because I don’t want to give anything away, but know that the before and after are going to converge into a powerful conclusion. Remember that plot twist I mentioned! WOW! It completely floored me and it wasn’t the only twist.
Scottoline has a way with characters. As usual, I found her characters well written, but I didn’t care for Maggie’s character. She came across as awkward, more teenager than adult. Anna is the best written character. I disliked her from the beginning because there was just something off about her, this underlying suspense to her character. The creepy factor is strong with this one.
After a steady pace throughout, when the revelations began, they were coming at me at break neck speed and I barely managed to keep up. Even though all my burning questions were answered, the conclusion felt a tad rushed. Despite that, I was thrilled with Scottolines latest. It’s another great one. Grab your copy today!
