Walland is solid start to the Hesse Creek series from Andrea Thome.
India’s (I love this name) life has always gone according to plan. But when she decides to call off her high-profile wedding, everything turns upside down. A resort in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee was supposed to be a place she could hide out and lick her wounds. Instead she finds herself questioning everything she ever thought she wanted when a handsome stranger enters the picture. Wyatt has built a careful life for himself, and has no intention of letting anyone get close to him. But this wouldn’t be a story of romance if the sparks didn’t fly between the two. And fly they do.
The timing of the book is fast and India and Wyatt come together REALLY quickly. Despite that, I felt a connection and chemistry between them, which made their relationship believable even though they’ve only known each other a short time. The cast of supporting characters are great too. I’d love to see more of them featured in the next book(s) coming in the series.
So, I’ve mentioned how quickly the couple came together. This is a shorter book, clocking in with approximately 240 pages. I enjoyed the audiobook, which is a little over 5 hours. It was almost like listening to the abridged version of an audiobook. I certainly think the author could have taken her time and expanded the story in places, but for some reason didn’t.
Sometimes the narration really puts a book over the top for me. The narration here was good, but it neither added to or took anything away from the story.
The next book in this series is due on September 5, 2017 and I’ll be adding it to my TBR. Walland was a good start and I’m looking forward to what’s next in this series.
