I’ve been on a paranormal spree lately – vampires, witches, shifters – pretty much anything in this subgenre has been really doing it for me recently. And this cover just really sold it for me. The martini glass of blood combined with the dating website profile pic truly cracked me up. If I were scrolling through books I’d completely stop and grab this book!

Overall, this was a fun book. I loved that the shifter in this was a beaver – I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a beaver shifter before! And the setup of the whole plot was great. The two main characters needed to get married for *reasons* important to both of their clans/packs. That they end up using supernatural dating service that comes with a satisfaction guaranteed is just part of the book I love, something that I’ve seen in IRL matchmaker agencies that always cracked me up. But in a PNR book it made sense to me so it worked well here.

I did like both MCs together and when they work best is when they have each other’s back. The last quarter of the book introduces some elements that did not work as well for me – and started to confuse me as far as following the plot. I still liked the conclusion and how the two got their HEA but it was a bit murky in the plot for a bit.

About E.J. Russell:

author

E.J. Russell–grace, mother of three, recovering actor–writes romance in a rainbow of flavors. Count on high snark, low angst and happy endings.

Reality? Eh, not so much.

She’s married to Curmudgeonly Husband, a man who cares even less about sports than she does. Luckily, C.H. also loves to cook, or all three of their children (Lovely Daughter and Darling Sons A and B) would have survived on nothing but Cheerios, beef jerky, and Satsuma mandarins (the extent of E.J.’s culinary skill set).

E.J. lives in rural Oregon, enjoys visits from her wonderful adult children, and indulges in good books, red wine, and the occasional hyperbole.
