Book Review: Invitation to the Blues by Roan Parrish

Sometimes you’re looking for a light book, sometimes you’re looking for a more meaningful one, and sometimes you’re looking for something funny, you know? Invitation to the Blues by Roan Parrish is one of the more meaningful books that has some weight behind it. I don’t always read blurbs or even content warnings because I know authors that I like and I am almost never disappointed. I’m glad I was warned about this one going in just so that I could prepare myself. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVED this book. But it dealt with depression, anxiety, and mentions of previous suicide attempts, so not the easiest topics. If those things are hard to read about this book might not be for you. Book Review: Brooklynaire by Sarina Bowen

I’m pretty sure my Sarina Bowen love is established for all here in the blog so I won’t bother reiterating it and boring all of you yet again…but I love her writing. Brooklynaire is loosely attached to her Brooklyn Bruiser series – in that it’s connected to the series and those who’ve read the previous books have been wanting this book BUT if you picked this book up cold, never having read the earlier ones you would be completely fine. I think that is incredibly smart and must have been so hard to do! This couple wasn’t so established that fans were dying for them, but just teased enough that we wondered. I love that a new reader could pick this up and not really be missing anything. I know that is a constant question, at least in the romance community, and here is a deft way to answer that. Book Review: Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai

Alisha Rai followed up her seriously amazing first book in the Forbidden Hearts series with another stunner here. When I say this series is not to be missed I am not exaggerating! I am always recommending it. It has everything from star crosses lovers to forbidden lovers to some crazy good family drama. Drop everything. DO IT.¬† Continue reading “Book Review: Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai”

Book Review: Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh

Nalini Singh has a new series people!! This is not a drill! And it’s so GOOD! You can’t go wrong with a Nalini book. Continue reading “Book Review: Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh”

Book Review: Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh

Nalini Singh has so many books you would think it would be hard to pick a series but nope, not for me. She is my ultimate favorite author, tops my list of authors I’d kill to meet, and this series right here is my favorite of all of hers. The Guild Hunter series has a grittiness and urbanness to it that I wouldn’t normally say that I like but like with most things Nalini just does it so, so well that I fell in love with her characters and this world. The same goes for the Psy/Changeling world but the Guild Hunters are just the best for me! Continue reading “Book Review: Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh”

Book Review: Fallen Heir by Erin Watt

The Royals trilogy by Erin Watt burst on the YA scene last year with a bang and pretty much everyone I know who read them became obsessed with them – me included. ¬†They’re written by the writing duo of Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick, both of whom I adore and have huge fan followings in their own rights so together they were bound to be a huge hit. The tag line of the books were ‘these Royals will ruin you’. And holy crap they DID. Fallen Heir is the follow up to these and THEY DID IT AGAIN. **No spoiler ahead.** Continue reading “Book Review: Fallen Heir by Erin Watt”

Book Review: Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai

I was lucky enough to meet Alisha Rai at RT in May, see her speak on an amazing panel, AND receive an ARC of Hate to Want You. Plus when I told her how much a good friend identified with her characters she gave me an ARC for her. I went there already a fan but left knowing that she was firmly on my auto-buy list. Book Review: My Roommate’s Girl by Julianna Keyes

If you haven’t read Julianna Keyes before, this is a great book to start with! It’s not part of a series, there’s no connections to any other books so it’s a great place to start with an excellent author. Continue reading “Book Review: My Roommate’s Girl by Julianna Keyes”

Book Review: The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

To get on my auto-buy list usually an author has to have a back-list of at least a few books that I’ve loved. Has to be one that just never lets me down like Julie James. Nalini Singh. Sarina Bowen…obviously my chosen genre is romance lol. But Becky Albertalli got on that list for me with Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda which was funny, moving, and has stuck with me ever since. One book! That’s impressive! So I waited for my book friends to get their act together so we could have an epic group read of Upside…and it was fantastic, to say the least.
